Bold, spicy, and balanced — this firecracker steak and shrimp recipe is a one-pan meal that brings the flavor without the fuss. Perfect for weeknights or anytime you’re craving takeout-level heat at home.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 lb sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp chili garlic sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, and chili garlic sauce in a small bowl. Set aside.
  2. Season sliced steak with garlic, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steak for 2–3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. Add shrimp to the pan and cook until pink and just cooked through, about 2 minutes per side.
  5. Return steak to the pan. Pour in the sauce and stir to coat evenly.
  6. Let simmer 1–2 minutes until sauce thickens slightly and glazes the meat.
  7. Serve over rice or noodles. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • You can double the sauce and refrigerate half for a quick second batch later.
  • Adjust the spice by adding or reducing the chili garlic sauce to your liking.
  • This recipe also works with tofu, mushrooms, or chicken.
